PDT Fleet Training shortlisted for a Motor Transport Award 2022!

PDT Fleet Training have been shortlisted for the Partnership Award at the Motor Transport Awards 2022!

The recognition for providing an outstanding service focuses on their successful partnership with CLEAN, one of the UK’s leading independent laundry companies providing professional linen and workwear rental services.

CLEAN saw a significant reduction in driver headcount as a result of the pandemic, and recognised the issues felt far and wide within the logistics industry to attract, retain and develop drivers. CLEAN approached PDT Fleet Training, part of Warwickshire-based company Pertemps Network Group, for their industry knowledge and advice on how they can attract drivers from an ever-decreasing supply pool.

In collaboration with CLEAN, 28 drivers were trained and upskilled to become professional HGV drivers through PDT Skills Bootcamp, directly funded by the Department for Education, part of the new approach to address the national shortage in the coming months.

For eight years, PDT Fleet Training has worked with CLEAN, developing bespoke training sessions and unique training content, fully immersing themselves in the business to enable them to design, innovate, support and work together collaboratively to address the needs of the workforce and the national driver shortage.

Samantha Leleu, Director of PDT Fleet Training, said: “We’re very happy to have been selected. It just reflects what can be achieved through effective collaboration, where suppliers and partners can immerse themselves in the business to the benefit of both parties and the end customers.

“We have had the pleasure of working with CLEAN for a number of years and for them to have given us this opportunity is fantastic. We hope to receive good news on the night!”

Peter Cox, Head of Transport at CLEAN, said: “We are particularly proud to have been nominated for the Partnership Award.

“We have worked closely with Pertemps PDT Fleet Training to develop CPC training modules for our 180+ drivers for some time, and this year we took this to the next level by collaborating with them to roll out our Driver Academy and Skills Bootcamp programmes.

“As the country rebounds from the effects of the pandemic, we set a clear objective to become to become an employer of choice for both existing and aspiring professional drivers.  To ensure we were able to achieve the objectives we set ourselves, and allow us to compete with much larger organisations, it was vital we partnered with the best supplier possible.

“Our relationship with Pertemps PDT Fleet Training gives us access to industry experts, expert knowledge, and the capability to achieve the ambitious milestones we set ourselves.

“We have made a significant investment of time and money to improve the development pathway from newly qualified to professional HGV driver while ensuring drivers feel supported and stay within the business.”

The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday 7th September at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
