1000th Candidate Trained with Pertemps Driving Academy

Pertemps’ massive £1m investment into driver training has been a roaring success as the 1000th candidate is trained as a professional LGV Driver in answer to a national shortage.

Tom Williams, the 1000th trained candidate, revved his way to success after passing his LGV Cat C and C+E tests within 12 months, all thanks to Pertemps Driver Training.

25-year-old Tom Williams said, “Before driving I worked in a factory as a production operative. I wanted a career change and after a recommendation from a friend, I headed to Pertemps to ask about their LGV opportunities.

“I fancied an office with a view and driving certainly gives me that. You’re going to different parts of the country everyday – it’s always a new experience and that’s what I love.”

With a current shortage of commercial Drivers nationally, we decided to tackle the problem head-on by launching the Driver Training Academy in Crick, Northamptonshire back in summer 2014 with the help of Director John Poliquin and General Manager Samantha Earl.

Since then, the Academy has grown and the scheme has been a triumph. Along with our national campaign, #GetBehindTheWheel, to attract more people to a driving career, Pertemps has successfully trained 1000 Drivers.

Samantha said, “In answer to the national shortage of LGV Drivers we took the lead and invested our cash into the next generation of Drivers. To date that investment sits at £1 million with no sign of stopping yet!"

“We believe that providing delegates with the best environment to learn will in turn aid them in not only passing their tests but also in supporting their future work in logistics.

“We pride ourselves on investing in our employees and that includes our temporary workers. We hope many other commercial companies join us in proactively reducing the national driver shortage as we have.”
