Skills Bootcamps are free training courses in England. The courses are suitable if the learner is new to HGV driving. Learners can also take a course to upgrade their licence from HGV Category C to C + E.
Basic Application Criteria:
Learner is aged 19 or above.
The learner holds full (Cat B) driving licence.
Training Process:
1) Initial Employer Interview and Selection
2) Advice and Guidance (includes the Get to Know Logistics Training Session)
3) Medical Exam, Driver Test Success Online Training
4) Module 1 Theory, Hazard Perception and Module 2 Tests
5) Practical Training
6) Module 3 Practical Driving Tests (re-tests if required)
7) Practical Driving and Module 4 Test
8) Post Completion Interview and Job Offer
Employer Engagement and Commitment:
1) Initial Interview and Selection
2) Written Confirmation to PDT to confirm the interview has taken place
3) 2 x 'Buddy Days' - time spent on the road with experienced HGV driver. Process to include company and site orientation and procedures.
4) Written Confirmation to PDT to confirm the 'Buddy Days' have taken place
5) Post completion Interview
6) Written of confirmation of job offer to PDT
